Apply for the Society of Reproductive Surgeons Fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Gynecologic Surgery
The Society of Reproductive Surgeons (SRS) is proud to present an exclusive one-year post-graduate fellowship for reproductive endocrinologists and gynecologists interested in infertility medicine, who desire further advanced minimally invasive and robotic surgical training.
The purpose of the fellowship is to enhance surgical experience for managing reproductive organ disorders. Fellows will have intensive, hands-on experience with hysteroscopy, cystoscopy, proctoscopy, laparoscopy, and robotic-assisted laparoscopy. Laboratory simulation will also be available.
Techniques emphasized will include the thorough laparoscopic management of advanced-stage endometriosis, including extra-genital endometriosis of the peritoneum, diaphragm, bowel and bladder, etc. Fellows will also gain comfort with robotics in addition to conventional operative laparoscopy. Tubal reconstruction and fertility-sparing management of uterine leiomyoma will be emphasized, including operative hysteroscopic resection, as well as the laparoscopic management of uterine leiomyoma. All aspects of operative hysteroscopy will be taught, includings metroplasty, myomectomy, and polypectomy, as well as managing advanced stage Asherman syndrome. In addition, fellows will become facile in cystoscopy, proctoscopy, pelvic ultrasonography and saline infusion sonohysterograms. Post-graduate fellows will be exposed to a wide variety of gynecologic pathologies and will be well situated to offer their surgical expertise to their future patients and act as a consultant to other physicians in their community.
Research is also integral to this fellowship. Post-graduate fellows will not only learn cutting edge surgical techniques, but are expected to create and communicate advances in minimally invasive surgery through research. The results from fellow-led projects will be submitted to the ASRM national meeting and, if accepted, fellows will have the support and opportunity to present their findings. Post-graduate fellows will also have the opportunity to publish their findings in Fertility and Sterility.
SRS recognizes the challenges facing young fertility specialists and surgeons. The overarching goal of this training program is to equip physicians with the ability to surgically manage, in a minimally invasive fashion, patients with serious anatomic pathologies that can lead to infertility.
The applicant must have completed an Obstetrics and Gynecology residency or a Reproductive Endocrinology fellowship in the United States. In addition, the applicant should be able to obtain a medical license and hospital privileges to practice medicine in the accepted post-graduate program. J-1 visas are not provided by fellowship programs.
