Message from the President

I am both honored and excited to represent our specialty as the President of the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (SREI).  With just over 1,000 members, we are an elite group of Board-Certified physicians who have worked diligently for many years to achieve this distinction.  Members must have completed residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology and fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and must have passed both the rigorous Qualifying and Certifying exams for both Ob/Gyn and REI.  In addition, members of SREI must stay current in the field and show commitment to lifelong learning by maintenance of Board Certification.

Our society plays a valuable role to its members and works to serve its members at all levels, from residents interested in the field, to fellows in training, to newly practicing physicians and to those in practice for more than a decade.  SREI provides a unified voice in representing REI fellowship programs to ACGME our main societies by having members sit of the Executive Boards of ASRM, SART, and ACOG. To ensure that we continue to draw the best talent into our field, SREI is creating mentorship opportunities to provide early exposure to REI for medical students and Ob/Gyn residents. SREI is working towards taking a more active role in supporting all faculty institutions who teach and train REI fellows.   SREI enhances fellowship education with the annual fellowship retreat in Park City, Utah and supports fellow education to send fellows to the Oncofertility Consortium in Chicago, Advocacy Day in Washington DC, and SRS Boot Camp in Houston.  To better serve the needs of those in practice, SREI sponsors the annual Members’ Retreat at the ASRM.  This meeting is well attended and is geared towards improving one’s practice and enhacing quality of life. The SREI discussion forum provides an enlightening exchange of ideas for challenging problems. We will work to improve the visibility of SREI members for patients, referring physicians, and our peers.  Finally, we are working to connect our members through social media to allow for a continuous exchange of ideas, best practice, and collaboration.

I am fortunate to have incredibly talented colleagues serving on the board and various committees to help me this year. I look forward to a productive and inspiring year.  Please feel free to reach out to me personally with any questions or ideas.
