R. Matthew Coward, MD FACS is an Assistant Professor of Urology and Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the UNC School of Medicine, Director of Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at UNC Fertility in Raleigh, NC, and Program Director for the UNC Andrology and Men’s Health Fellowship. He earned his MD with Distinction at UNC, completed his urology residency at UNC, and then completed a fellowship in Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery with Dr. Larry Lipshultz at Baylor College of Medicine from 2012-2013. Dr. Coward’s clinical practice focuses in the areas of male reproduction and fertility as well as male sexual dysfunction. Dr. Coward is an NIH-funded co-investigator with the Reproductive Medicine Network, a collaborative group of centers of excellence that carries out multi-centered clinical trials in infertility. Having published more than 40 scientific articles and chapters in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks, Dr. Coward’s research interests include clinical trials in reproductive medicine, male infertility, vasectomy and vasectomy reversal, sexual dysfunction, penile prostheses, hypogonadism, and urologic imaging. Dr. Coward serves as a peer reviewer for numerous journals, and he is an active member of the ASRM, SMRU, AUA, SSMR, SMSNA, Society of Urologic Prosthetic Surgeons, and SESAUA.
