2026 PRIMED Cohort

The American Society for Reproductive Medicine's Center for Policy and Leadership is thrilled to announce the 2026 PRIMED Scholars Cohort! These reproductive medicine professionals represent a broad diversity of experientialgeographic, and personal backgrounds, reflecting the variety of training and expertise amonASRM members and the field of reproductive medicine.

We look forward to working with these advocates and welcoming them to the PRIMED community.

2026 Cohort Members:

Alease Daniel Barnes

Alease Barnes is a highly skilled embryologist, educator, and content creator dedicated to advancing fertility awareness and reproductive science. With a Bachelor of Science in Genetics and a minor in Biotechnology from North Carolina State University, she has built a dynamic career in embryology, working with top fertility clinics across the country.

Sabrine Bensouda, MD

Dr. Bensouda is a third-year OB/GYN resident at Northwestern University who aspires to become a reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist, aiming to improve access to fertility care through research and advocacy efforts. She is the proud daughter of a single immigrant mother and the first person in her family to graduate from college. She hopes to inspire others to achieve their dreams regardless of where they are starting from. 

Kendall Bielak, MD

Dr. Bielak is an REI fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill focused on advancing equitable access to assisted reproductive technologies through state and national policy engagement. A dedicated advocate since college, she previously served in leadership roles within ACOG District III, representing her district in both state and federal initiatives.

David Boedeker, DO, MHA

David Boedeker, DO, MHA, is a fellow at the combined NICHD/Federal Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology. He completed residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and received his master's degree from Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health. 

Caroline Braun, MD

Dr. Braun is a third-year OB/GYN resident at Oregon Health & Science University, planning to pursue a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. She advances reproductive justice through an environmental lens and believes that patient care extends beyond the clinic to our shared communities and planet.

Ashley Germann, MSW, LISW-S, PMH-C 

Ashley Germann is a licensed clinical social worker, a certified perinatal mental health therapist, a certified Fair Play Facilitator, and the owner of Modern Motherhood Therapy in Columbus, Ohio. She specializes in maternal mental health and infertility and brings a clinician’s voice to reproductive and perinatal mental health advocacy through her work with the Ohio Perinatal Mental Health Task Force.

Arianna Injeian, MPH, MSc

Ms. Injeian is a PhD candidate in Medical Anthropology at the University of Alabama, whose dissertation examines the lived experiences of intended parents navigating fertility treatments through ethnographic fieldwork with IVF patients and providers. Her research explores how assisted reproductive technologies reshape perceptions of embodiment, kinship, and reproductive agency amid shifting political and economic landscapes.

Nicolas A. Johnson, MD

Dr. Johnson is an REI Fellow at The University of Cincinnati. His current research and advocacy interests include reproductive health disparities, bioethics, and access to care in third-party reproduction. He completed his OB/GYN residency at University Hospitals/Case Western in Cleveland, OH, where he served as the Advocacy Chief Resident.

Jeanine Price, DNP, APRN, WHNP-BC

Jeanine Price, DNP, WHNP-BC, is a doctoral-prepared nurse practitioner with more than 20 years devoted to reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) patient care, combining deep clinical expertise with a commitment to education and leadership. She currently serves as Chair-Elect of the ASRM Advanced Practice Providers Professional Group (AP3G) and is a recognized advocate for advancing the visibility, professional development, and impact of APPs in fertility medicine.

Nanette Rollene, MD 

Dr. Nanette Rollene is a retired U.S. Navy CAPT and practicing REI physician and educator focused on expanding access to care where she grew up in the Upper Midwest and training fellows through programs at the University of Iowa, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center/NIH, and in central Florida. She lives in Orlando with her husband, an anesthesiologist, where they balance academic medicine with running an increasingly ambitious tropical fruit and chili pepper farm.

Josh Romero

Josh Romero is an aspiring OB/GYN and MD-JD candidate at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Josh is particularly interested in how the evolving landscape of reproductive health care in the United States will intersect with emerging health technologies to shape future law and regulation.

Mitra Sharifi, MD, MS

Dr. Mitra Sharifi is a Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility fellow at Washington University in St. Louis whose work focuses on equitable access to fertility care, patient-centered policy research, and physician reproductive health. She has led initiatives on postpartum HPV vaccination, studied IVF patient concerns post-Dobbs, presented research on fertility benefits coverage, and advocated on Capitol Hill through ACOG Congressional Leadership Conferences.
