Program Overview

This unique professional development opportunity delivers comprehensive, skill-based training through a hybrid of in-person and online modules throughout the year. It is designed to energize and educate ASRM members on policy and advocacy fundamentals.

Upon program completion, participants will be equipped with robust policy, advocacy, and communications skills. PRIMED Scholars will be eligible to serve as future faculty and advisors to the CPL, be featured in future CPL outreach materials, and may be called upon to participate in ASRM/CPL programming, such as the Policy Matters podcast. Learn more about the PRIMED Scholars Program here.

Curriculum

Online Training Modules: Participants are required to participate in bi-monthly online teaching sessions. Each module will cover a unique topic (e.g., US legislative processes, effective advocacy communications, using social media to advocate) and may include guest speakers.

PRIMED in D.C. Advocacy Trip: PRIMED Scholars participate in an advocacy in action trip hosted at our Washington, DC headquarters. Attendees will visit Capitol Hill and other DC landmarks and meet with and hear from policy experts, including ASRM’s government affairs team, staff, and Members of Congress, to gain hands-on learning and experience in the nation’s capital. See pictures and details from the 2025 Cohort's members and experience here.

Capstone Projects: Each participant must complete a capstone project on a relevant topic. Potential projects include white papers, fact sheets, toolkits, etc. Upon program completion, CPL PRIMED Scholars are expected to present their research at ASRM’s Annual Congress and Expo.
